Here goes nothing….I am not quite sure where this will take me, although I have a few ideas in my mind. I am looking for a way to journal on some of the more important things in life. Like so many in the rat race, I live on the road and try to salvage what little time I have with my family to enjoy The Gr8 Outdoors. Fortunately for me, my family is very well suited on a hiking trail or ”adventure in the woods” rather than a day at the mall. Not sure how long that will last, but for a 3 and 5 year-old they handle themselves pretty well with mother nature.
I have always been heavily involved in the Outdoors primarily due to the Scouting days of weekend camping trips, backpacking treks, and countless hikes. But I found that as my involvement with Scouts waned down, the frequency of hitting The Gr8 Outdoors began to be limited to day trips. I am trying to reverse that course on a few different fronts that include greater family involvement as well as a greater level of commitment for myself personally. I cant tell you the last time I went Backpacking and quite frankly it is something I miss. I struggle with disconnecting and the The Gr8 Outdoors is one way in which I can accomplish it!
So needless to say I am not sure where this Blog will lead, but then again I suppose many that create one don’t necessarily know that either. What I do know is I want a place to share the experiences and adventures for years to come. Pictures are great, GPS Tracklogs are fun, but this will hopefully become a more interactive resource and it short a slice of history for the family!
